Sophie “Effy” Cooper has quickly become one of the most compelling new voices in UK club music. As a producer, DJ, radio host, and label founder from the North West of England, she has already released four EPs, a string of acclaimed club singles, and sold out multiple headline tours across Europe, Australia, and North America since her 2020 debut.
Raised near Blackpool, as a teenager she found a love for DJing at house parties, influenced by the high-energy styles of The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers. Spending late nights looping tracks and drum sections to make new arrangements, she was inspired by breakthrough female producers like Maya Jane Coles to create her own sound and her 2020 debut single, “Fluffy Clouds,” premiered via Mixmag and featured by BBC Introducing Dance, quickly led to a radio residency at London’s Rinse FM. Exploring styles between breaks, electro and UK bass, her rapid rise as a producer of club-ready hits brought on sets at iconic venues and parties like Fabric, Parklife, The Warehouse Project and Amnesia Ibiza, as well as support sets for Helena Hauff and Honey Dijon.
Her acclaimed 2022 debut EP, Not What It Seems, featured in DJ Mag, Notion and Metal, led to her first international tours in Australia and Japan alongside a non-stop club run across Europe. Not slowing down her productions, she followed up her high-energy, percussive and atmospheric EP The Highest Level with an explosive set at the 12,000-capacity Boiler Room Sydney. Showcasing a tracklist almost entirely made from Effy originals, including the as-yet unreleased anthem “iluv” in collaboration with Mall Grab, the online set shot to prominence as one of the year’s best.
“iluv” became the first release under the newly-launched Fragrance Recordings, and by the time of its Valentine’s Day release was already a celebrated dance anthem. The label, founded together by partners Effy and Mall Grab, now hosts their releases alongside emerging artists from across the world. In 2025, Fragrance released Effy’s latest EP, The Syndicate, a three-track homage to coming of age in Blackpool and the North West. Paying tribute to one of the UK’s most iconic superclubs, the record spans from the nostalgia of 2011 EDM to the in-your-face modern bass that has become an Effy signature.

the whole biography
Meagan Rodriguez is QRTR, a musician, DJ, and film composer flourishing within modern electronic music, recognized as a top rising indie artist. Building music of conceptual depth, the tonality of QRTR’s productions pull from various ethos: the entrancing and pulsating waves of house rhythms, psychedelic scopes of space and layering, and immersive worlds of sound that utilize her vast film and field recording library. QRTR can activate the biggest of stages and can also immerse the mind into a menagerie of unfolding styles cascading over one another. A singular artist of her generation, QRTR first established her voice with two monumental releases within a 24-month window: Drenched (2020) and infina ad nausea (2021), described by Pitchfork as an “euphoric trip through the mind” filled with “alternative-universe club classics in pastel blues and sludgy blacks” (Paste Magazine). Both records explored themes of submersion, repetition, and endurance. These ideas reach their most realized form on her third album, ONDAS (2025), a deeply personal work that translates those patterns into explicit vocal and lyrical explorations. ONDAS, translating to “waves” in Portuguese and Spanish, reflects on cyclical grief and relief, drawing from QRTR’s multilingual upbringing and a poem written in 2017 to her religious Portuguese mother - an invocation to keep moving forward, again and again, despite the ebb and flow of the tide. The live resume and presentation of QRTR’s music has become just as exemplary, making her presence known at prestigious festivals such as Coachella, Electric Forest, and HARD Summer, while also performing at some of the most cutting edge underground shows and festivals around the globe. Most notable are her appearances at Philly’s Making Time, as well as A2B2’s sold out Night of Fire festival at the Knockdown Center in New York, featuring QRTR alongside Arca, Eartheater, Andy Morin, Machinegirl, and Kero Kero Bonito. Millions of plays across streaming platforms worldwide and a dedicated fan base that’s expanded far outside of her East Coast roots, QRTR has become an undeniable force within modern electronic music.
