Firmly rooted in NYC’s Dance Music history while tastefully pushing the envelope, he masterfully explores the intersections between Soulful House, Afro House, Techno and Disco. Shannon Dawson is a dance floor professional. From the club to the recording booth and beyond, the kinetic DJ exhibits a deep understanding of what moves people at any place or time. Born, raised, and currently based in New York, Shannon has brought her unlimited exuberance and expert DJ skills to Chongqing, China, where she lived for five years and lit up the decks at local clubs and parties across the country. There she co-founded and owned CREAM, Chongqing’s first hip-hop–focused club, and rounded out her nightlife experience operating and booking for the subcultural spot. Shannon’s sound: Big and bold. She commands the decks with impressive technical skill—she’s noted for her layering and phrasing, dizzying handwork, and big-time blends. Michael Greene is a DJ, music producer, and hip hop expert. He is a noted collector and curator based in New York City. He throws a weekly party in homage to the 45”record under the handle Operator Emz. Mobile Mondays! brings NYC’s vinyl rats together to celebrate everything from disco to garage, curated from the inside. Michael Greene grew up alongside hip hop, with the 70's Bronx as backdrop. Graffiti claimed him pre-adolescence and he became Emz One, growing his street culture skill set throughout the 80's in New York City and in Los Angeles. As a teen he cut his deejay teeth on college radio and learned the music business in the offices of some of hip hop’s elite movers and makers. The Fly ID Show was one of the first to bring a rap music format to college radio. Scratching over mostly East Coast records, with rap icons in the booth as guests, prepared Emz for commercial success. He worked for Steve Rifkind prior to his founding Loud Records. Greene went from college radio to co-host one of the first commercial hip hop radio shows in LA, “The Joint.” On KBET, Greene combined his encyclopedic knowledge of music with sardonic humor, earning fans and making “King Emz” a local celebrity. He also found himself working at the newly minted Interscope Records, as a promotor of records like “The Chronic. After years on the business side of the music industry, Greene turned his focus to production and events. He produced records for Cyndi Lauper, MIA, and Joell Ortiz. He launched Mobile Mondays! and collaborates with artists like longtime friend John Stanier of Battles, playing events like the Silent Disco party at MoMA. Adidas asked Greene to help design the Adidas Pro Model for 2013, bringing his sneaker guru know-how to their operation in Berlin.
