Aurora Halal makes her much-anticipated return to BASEMENT. The Sustain-Release founder is one of the definitive artists in the NY electronic music scene over the last fifteen years, both as a producer/DJ and as an organizer. It’s indisputable that the impact of her signature festival has been galvanizing for the entire American underground, while her fearless DJ sets explore the cross currents between the evocative, hypnotic and the extreme in equal measure. From her years-running Nowadays residency and to her ceaseless global touring schedule, Halal brings a vitality and wide-open sense of imagination to techno that is all her own. Altinbas is back following his July debut in the room. A resident of Brussels’ renowned Fuse, he has distinguished himself with a sleek, roiling sound that captures a cold-blooded sensuality and relentless momentum with decisive focus. The quality of his productions is evinced in no small part by the company he keeps: he has released on buy-on-sight labels like Ostgut Ton, Non Series, Token and more.

Strap in for a wild ride: Roza Tirenzi steps back into the booth in STUDIO. Tirenzi has become a key name in the last decade; she’s renowned for her bombastic, flowy and highly personal take on rave, trance, breaks, progressive house and much, much more. Eschewing the expected in favor of a febrile psychedelia, Tirenzi is an artist whose reputation is uncontestable. Alex Kassian channels some of those same influences, drawing on the euphoric highs of trance as well as the balmy sway of cosmic and the softer side of synth pop. In his productions and sets, he crafts an unhurried, flowy world that makes the psychedelic experience feel laid back. Matas turns up the tempo, setting his sights on a more tweaked, slithery palette. The Nowadays resident reinvigorates techy minimalism and early ‘00s prog sounds with a special touch.

Shadowy and psychedelic, her hardware live & DJ sets have a hazy sensuality and metallic dance floor intensity that's at turns playful, dark, euphoric and emotionally vulnerable. In all her projects, she treats dance music as an arena for transformation and since 2010, her events have been rooted in an underground, DIY approach that pushes forward-thinking sounds, production, and ideas. She’s spent the last 10 years touring like-minded clubs, raves, and festivals worldwide and gained a reputation for powerful, unique performances that work both the body and mind. She’s 4 years into a residency at NYC’s Nowadays, is a regular at Berghain and previously De School.

    the whole biography
Roza Terenzi is a manifestation of femmeforward rhythmic energy, spreading a concoction of sublime mind dance, irreverent sapphic mischief, & vivacious cybernetics throughout the universe. Since emerging from her birthplace in the Australian underground, she’s helped to usher in a fantastically playful innovation to dancefloors worldwide through her uniquely enamoring recklessness, irresistibly unruly kinetic frequencies, & a stylishly frenetic visual aesthetic. Combining rave sonics across style & era with relentlessly naughty finesse & a bewitching effervescence true to her sound, her DJing embodies a vibrant synergy between arcane feminine exuberance, lush atmospheres, & nefariously trippy grooves - at once deeply transcendent, yet confident, chaotic, and fun loving at its core. Now based in Berlin, her vibrations on the decks are beloved worldwide - whether it’s through landmark festival slots at Dekmantel, Sonar, & Sustain Release, or blazing rave sets at celebrated party spots like Panorama Bar, Bassiani, De School, and likely your favorite club somewhere in the mix. As a producer, her music flirts with similarly enticing unknowns - zooming through spheres of her own elegant velocity, dissolving constraints of time & dimension as she fuses enchanted realms of spellbinding breakbeat science, introspective futch electronica, & devilishly tranced out enchantress anthems. Throughout beloved solo EPs on Kalahari Oyster Cult, Butter Sessions, & Maricas, & her full length “Modern Bliss” LP on Planet Euphorique, she demonstrates an effortlessly eclectic refusal to be confined to any one genre or tempo - blowing convention a kiss goodbye as she ultimately lets her audacious spirit shine through in all that she creates. Her fiercely universal approach also extends into a deep love of collaboration essential to her practice, exemplified through EPs as B'Zircon with Fantastic Man, Current Obsession with Furious Frank, & the much acclaimed “Edge of Innocence” full length LP with D. Tiffany on Delicate Records. Always keen to share the resonance of her inner world, she is presently curating her "Step Ball Chain" imprint as an inventive repository for her productions with a cadre of likeminded freaks & friends - est. in 2020, & only set to expand in sound & vision as it continues to unite chillers, ravers, & lovers everywhere. Simultaneously a daringly original voice in our present day hellscape while also indulging the heavenly potential of rave music’s heyday, she refuses to engage with nostalgic ideas of euphoria - instead focusing on the energy of music across eras that dares to imagine a more magical present & future for us all.
