Brace for impact: Schwefelgelb returns to headline BASEMENT. The prolific German duo arrive hot on the heels of their most recent release, “Hologramm.” A pristine slice of linear, techno filth, the EP is a masterclass in less-is-more, with taut, tensile loop structures that swerve with laser focus and a punky edge. Schwefelgelb have committed themselves to fusing the perfect alloy between hard-edged modern techno and rushing, rave release. With each step, their refinement only deepens. Radion resident Justine Perry is back. The French artist is at the forefront of a new wave, blending the cerebral and hypnotic with powerful, driving grooves. Following standout releases on Ostgut Ton and Dynamic Reflection, Perry has announced she is launching her new label Initial Interface later this year. Khidi resident Liza Rivs also returns, following her debut in April. This year’s “Seek The Hunter” EP sees Rivs in pure, menacing form, crafting captivating slow burners out of a palette of noise and rumbling, seething low end.

For one night only, FUNCTION takes over STUDIO. The beloved, infamous series has grown into one of the city’s premier queer parties, full stop. Founder and resident Makadsi leads the pack. A party starter par excellence, Makadsi harnesses the power of throbbing low end and slinky sleaze. Serenda makes her debut. A FUNCTION veteran, Serenda matches the vision and meets the freak while adding a personal twist. The London-based artist brings a subtle but decisive UK touch to the proceedings - soulful and deep but also heavy and hard as steel. Sterling Juan Diaz completes a perfect trio. No account of NY nightlife over the last five years would be complete without his name; Juan Diaz has been an undeniable force in the explosion of queer nightlife, drawing on a classic template of pumping house and techno, while adding a modern bite.

    “Makadsi continues to impress.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Makadsi continues to impress. This Brooklyn-based DJ/Producer, hailing from Zahle Lebanon, owns the underground scene with his signature sound merging Arabic influences over cross-genre sets. He is a resident and co-founder of FUNCTION, a space where he has cultivated a dance floor that honors the natural, vibrant diversity of New York City. NY’s BASEMENT dubbed Makadsi as the “rave activator”. 2025 saw Makadsi deepen his footprint across Europe. He returned to Glastonbury for a second year, this time on the IICON stage, and debuted at Horst Arts & Music Festival in Belgium. Summer took him from Honey Dijon's Chinois in Ibiza to Geggen x Pornceptual for Berlin Pride, Body Movements in London, the main stage at Madrid's MADO Pride, and Adonis for London Pride. French-German network ARTE profiled him for their Tracks series, spotlighting how he threads Arabic divas through techno beats. Back stateside, he played in the iconic Texas room for the 4th Annual Wire Festival in Brooklyn, NY further cementing his role in the heart of the city's underground. 2024 was no less impressive, with Makadsi’s debuts in Ibiza at Palmarama, Glastonbury Festival's iconic NY Downlow stage, Berlin's Pornceptual, Honey Dijon’s House Nation in Brooklyn, and NITSA's 30th birthday in Barcelona. 2023 was nothing short of monumental for Makadsi, taking FUNCTION on the road alongside Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour. As the Creative Director and architect for the Renaissance album and Renaissance World Tour, he booked opening DJ acts featuring familiar darlings of the Queer Underground scene (Arca, Shygirl, and more). He ended the tour with his own opening set for Beyoncé's last show in Kansas City. Topping off the year, Makadsi opened for Madonna’s Celebration Tour in Brooklyn.

“Serenda is a London-based artist of Guyanese and Greek heritage, known for her rich sound that is rooted in house but not confined by it.”

    their own biography

    the whole biography
Serenda is a London-based artist of Guyanese and Greek heritage, known for her rich sound that is rooted in house but not confined by it. Her sets fold between soulful depth and experimental edge, carrying a visceral power - always executed with a bold, contemporary vision. Serenda lives at the intersection of contrast. Her deep Afro-diasporic roots and ritual-rich heritage exist in dynamic tension with city life. This paradox shaped her worldview and her sound. It’s from this friction that her perspective emerges: soulful, sensual and emotionally charged. Her sets draw on the “timeless mindless states” of Mancuso’s The Loft parties, unfolding as rituals that don’t smooth chaos but work with it. Her sets are grounded in rhythm and instinct, built less around genre than sensation. She blends percussive, sensual house, and organic textures - crafting dance floors that feel immersive, visceral and emotionally charged. There’s a physicality to her sound that edges toward the primal. For Serenda, DJing is a form of play that is fluid and responsive. Following the release of her debut EP 'The Prophecy' on Josh Caffe’s Love Child label, Serenda quickly made her mark with a headline show in Fabric’s Room 2 quickly becoming a regular there, alongside holding down a monthly Rinse FM residency. A regular presence in London’s underground, she's also deeply inspired by time spent in New York, where the experimental sound and unfiltered expression mirror her own ethos. Serenda plays with pressure and release. Her sets often unfold with a measured intensity, but she’s never afraid to disrupt the flow with something raw, off-kilter, or emotionally direct. There’s a willingness to take risks that push the room into stranger, rawer territory. Her sets move fluidly between emotional restraint and sudden rupture always edging into new emotional terrain. Her fascination with world-building and quantum physics runs through everything she creates. From layered sound design to carefully crafted visual storytelling, Serenda builds sonic landscapes that explore self-discovery, navigating the boundary between control and abandon, most recently realised in her Rhythm Section debut EP 'Second Skin', firmly cementing her as a distinctive voice of today.
Their RA profile lists Rhythm Section International and Love Child.
